ASCSF was founded to meet the unmet needs of individuals living with Sickle Cell Disease. The foundation educates people with Sickle Cell about how to manage their disease and improve their quality of life.
ASCSF promotes the concept, “live a life worth living”. Therefore, ASCSF provides people with the resources, materials, and tools to foster interdependence, which ultimately increases education and their quality of health care.
We address the needs of individuals with sickle cell disease and their families by emphasizing educational and support programs and services that meet the physical, psychosocial and economic needs of our clients.
With a growing population of individuals with sickle cell disease and sickle cell Africa, the primary focus of ASCSF is to educate, screen and counsel those persons at risk of having children with sickle cell disease and other hemoglobin disorders.
Our purpose is on-going and our need is ever present. As long as babies continue to be born with sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait, there will be a need for our services. Until there’s a cure, we will continue to serve.
MISSION: The Mission of ASCSF is to provide comprehensive social services to improve the quality of life of individuals living with Sickle Cell.
VISION: The vision of ASCSF is to increase education, health awareness, life skills, promote self-sufficiency, and improve the quality of life of individuals living with Sickle Cell.

PROGRAMS & EDUCATION

These efforts may include but are not limited to: educational campaigns that build awareness of SCD and related conditions and programs that provide services such as genetic testing and counseling, case management and psychosocial support for individuals and families impacted by sickle cell disease.
In addition ASCSF has been tasked with creating educational materials for the African community. The development and promotion of these publications will aid Africans in understanding SCD and improving their overall health outcomes.
As ASCSF aggressively continues to combat the many challenges of sickle cell disease it is anticipated that many new programs will be developed in the near future in an effort to effectively serve those populations affected by SCD. less

What is Zikr ?
(The word dhikr means remembrance and in the Islamic context, it is used in the sense of remembrance of Allah.
“O you who believe! Remember Allah with much remembrance.” (33:41)
Our Prophet (saw) also told us:
“He who remembers his Lord and he who does not are like the living and the dead.” (Bukhari & Muslim)
Dhikr is an all-embracing term that, in addition to including the ritual acts of worship, covers an array of activities of the tongue and heart. It involves thinking of and making mention of Allah at all times and in every area of our lives. This is the worship that has no special time, but is performed constantly so that it permanently links up man’s life with Allah and His service.
The importance of constant dhikr cannot be emphasized enough, particularly if we desire to be on the receiving end of Allah’s attention, Grace and Mercy.
Allah tells us in the Quran:
“Then remember Me, I will remember you.”(2:152)
Our Prophet (saw) told us that Allah has said:
“I am with My servant when he remembers Me and his lips move making mention of Me.” (Bukhari) Our Prophet (saw) also said: “A man does nothing more calculated to rescue him from Allah’s punishment than making mention of Allah.” (Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah) less
