Aweil is a city in South Sudan in Bahr el ghazal Region.

This location lies approximately 800 kilometres (500 mi), by road, northwest of Juba, the capital and largest city in the country. The coordinates of Aweil are: 8° 46' 48.00"N, 27° 24' 0.00"E (Latitude: 8.7800; Longitude: 27.4000).
Aweil is the capital city of the state of Northern Bahr el Ghazal. It is also the county seat of Aweil Central County. The city's infrastructure is relatively developed however much the picture indicating Aweil look so underdeveloped, it was because the photo was taken in several year back by aerial photograph up from the airplane and now we shall be looking forwards to replaced the great work and transformation done by Governor Paul Malong Awan Anei of Northern Bahr el ghazal State Aweil. and includes a functioning railway station, a functioning hotel, a functioning airport, a soccer stadium and a functioning public hospital. The city functions as a team site for the United Nations Mission in Sudan. Several NGOs providing aid in South Sudan are based here.
The topography is flat and is prone to flooding, although the city itself lies on higher ground that the surrounding plains.[2] The city lies close to the confluence of the Lol River with the Pongo River. The average elevation of the city of Aweil is about 425 metres (1,394 ft) above sea level.[3] During the rainy season, the plain-dwellers seek refuge on higher ground in the city of Aweil.
Therefore the photo that presently is for long time back and now the major transformation is done and that picture bring the conflicting issues why show that old photo while the State is developed enough ranking number four in the State of South Sudan, the website's experts are looking for better change of that photo which was for aerial photograph of 2007 on the airplane but as per now Aweil is developed massively and enough.
Politically socially and economically Aweil is the most peaceful State in South Sudan's Ten States. Having been so peaceful State in South Sudan is contributed to the following things in the State, economic boost and bumping is growing forward, secondly Aweilians are not affected by any decision making to cause them a problem among themselves, and they have no issues like cattle raiding, ethnic violence or tribal violence are not there, they people beliefs that, their only problem can be identified as Arabs from the North and nothing here can here make them fight with each other apart from the patriots they posses in South Sudan. Aweilians are found being the peaceful and culturally and civilizations motivated with no claim or blame to be told them in South Sudan because they are impartial.
The population of the Aweil city fluctuates. During the dry season, the population is lower as the plain-dwellers return to the plains to tend to their gardens and harvest their crops. When the rains come and the plains flood, they return to the city, to escape the raging waters. In November 2008, Médecins Sans Frontières estimated the town's population at about 100,000 and that was not the real populations because the real populations of Aweil is not yet known but people beliefs that their main populations can be determine in 2014 National census if it will be done but as per now there is now concrete total.
Aweil has a railway station on the line to Wau built in the 1960s. After a period of disuse due to civil war damage, the line and the station were restored to use in 2010. Aweil is also served by Aweil Airport to Juba.
