Gerrit Thomas Ferreira, knowns as GT, cofounded Rand Consolidated Investments in 1977 with Laurie Dippenaar (also on Forbes list of Africa's Richest) and Paul Harris. It later became Rand Merchant Bank, and after a series of mergers and acquisitions, FirstRand group, which has two listed units, RMI Holdings for insurance and RMB Holdings for banking. He now serves as non-executive chairman of RMB Holdings. Ferreira also owns the Tokara vineyard and winemaker. He says wine is all about ROE, or "return on ego" rather than on equity.
